15 January 2016
Most of you are familiar with me as I have served as your WSGNA president in the past. I look forward to doing so again for 2016. Although I retired from 28 years of GI nursing this past July, I remain very interested in the practices, changes, and future of GI nurses and associates. I have been part of many changes and welcome the challenges ahead that will improve care for our patients.
We have a busy year ahead of us. It is Wisconsin’s turn to host the Multiregional SGNA conference. The 24th Annual Multiregional SGNA conference will be held September 16-18 at the Country Springs Hotel in Waukesha. We expect to offer 11 contact hours and provide services and information from 25-30 vendors. Please save the date and join us for some great networking and education. Please check the website www.multiregionalsgna.net frequently for more information as it becomes available.
The board will continue to work on providing excellent education offerings via the web. Margaret Hauser-Ullman, Deb Schmeling, and Mary Garcia comprise our educational committee and have created several excellent e-learning opportunities that offer contact hours for you already. Watch for more in 2016. A special thank you to this group for their creativeness, resourcefulness, and commitment. Connect, Watch, Learn, and Earn!!
Don’t forget to read your “tiny letters”. They are emailed to you as members to keep you updated on educational opportunities, scholarship offerings, election processes, and other information. Be sure to “Read It—Don’t Delete It”.
And don’t forget to apply for those scholarships!—we want to give them away. There will be scholarships available for the annual SGNA course in Seattle (May 22-24, 2016), the Multiregional SGNA in Waukesha (September 16-18, 2016), webinars and for initial GI certification and recertification. It is never too early to apply. Visit the www.wsgna.org site often.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or suggestions at email@example.com or 262-547-6938.
Thank you and a Happy New Year.
